A blogger friend named Kana (sounds like “iguana”) has nominated me for the Awesome Blog Content award! You have to check out her blog at http://kanatyler.com if you haven’t already. She is a powerhouse. She is a freelance journalist who writes, literally, 10,000 words a day or more, has two kids, a husband, and maintains a stellar, and often times word packed, blog. I think she is Wonder Woman’s secret identity and just won’t admit it. The coolest part about the ABC blog award is…..NO RULES! I love not having to follow rules. I can nominate all the websites I want to receive it. So…….
1. Every single website in my blogroll…..Please check them out they totally rock!
2. http://rasjacobson.com …..Her site is called “Lessons from Teachers and Twits” and I cannot recommend it enough.
3. http://almostcoherent.worpress.com …….. This site is worth every pixel it is written on! I have to spread the love to anyone who wishes that people who text while walking get a great big open manhole for Christmas. Gotta love it.
On to the New Year……..

Each year I pray that Ohio will somehow break off from the contiguous United States and find a way to float down toward the south somewhere. Mind you, I don’t want to be in the deep south or anywhere near the equator. I just want to be in a magical land where it is 70 degrees everyday except for the days I want to swim, then it can be warmer. I was born here and married a man who loves snow. I’m totally stuck here until some catastrophe makes my dream come true.
Usually, by this time of year, we’ve had at least one good snow storm and are gearing up for Round 2. This year, with our insanely rainy spring–the rainiest in 50 years, that caused my basement to flood for the first time since it was built in 1972—the snow has been, well, lame. I expect more from Ohio, though I don’t want to be misconstrued as complaining. Oh, no. No snow is the all time best kind of snow.
The National Weather Service is slipping, though. They said we’d have a foot of snow by yesterday evening. Unless they mean leprechaun feet, they are gloriously mistaken. I can still see blades of grass. This is an almost tropical winter for us. By now we’ve had to shovel ourselves out of our doors.
Some parts of global warming aren’t so bad.
Now that I’ve said that, Karma will bite me in the ass and snow will come falling by the truck load and ruin my “date” with Jim on Saturday.
Oh, well. That’s Ohio for ya.
Always,
Miranda

You are like the award queen–and you deserve them all!
We actually had a dusting of snow last night here in central Kentucky. Unlike you, I’ve been wanting snow. I’ve lived the last two winters in tropical countries. I’m ready for a break from the heat. Now, however, it has gone a bit too far in the cold direction.
Stay warm, my sister-friend!
Hugs,
Kathy
I dislike weather extremes of any kind. Too hot or too cold and I am unhappy. Sadly, Ohio is either one or the other, though I imagine places like Haiti would laugh at that statement. My kids are happy because they can play in the snow and I am obliged to shove them out the door to do anything rather than skulk around the house and complain, “I’m bored.”
I am a popular chain letter receiver, that’s what I think. I was laughing at how many I’ve received in the last few weeks. My awards page is getting fat.
Congratulations on the award!
Thanks. I seem to be collecting them at an alarming rate.
